Since the airport is located just 7.5 km outside of Ibiza Town and in close proximity to San Jose also, a taxi journey from the airport into the resorts is not very expensive and doesn’t take long. The taxi rank is located right outside the terminal.
Several companies operate in the centres of the main resorts. Radio Taxi Ibiza can be contacted on +34 971 39 8483 and Radio Taxi San Jose can be contacted on +34 971 800 080. In San Antonio the Radio Taxi telephone number is +34 971 34 37 64 and in Santa Eulalia passengers should contact tel +34 971 333 30 33. Radio Taxi Formentera can be contacted on tel +34 971 32 23 42.
At the resorts taxi ranks are typically close to the main hotels and the bus terminals. It is also possible to ask the reception desk at the hotel to order a reliable taxi service. Taxis are metered and the minimum fare is EUR 3.25 which rises to EUR 4.45, if a call was made to the central reservation desk. In addition, EUR 0.98 is charged for every kilometre travelled. This charge is applicable between the hours of 7.00 and 9.00 pm. After 9.00 pm this charge rises to EUR 1.20 per kilometre travelled. Luggage is transported free of charge but an airport supplement of EUR 1.65 applies.
Taking this as the basis for a calculation, the cost for travelling by taxis from the airport to various resort destinations on the island works out like this:
San Antonio – EUR 26.00 during daytime, EUR 31.00 during night time
Ibiza Town – EUR 15.00 during the day, EUR 17.00 at night
Santa Eulalia – EUR 26.00 during the day, EUR 31.00 at night
San Jose – EUR 18.00 during the day, EUR 21.00 at night
Cala San Vincente – EUR 38.00 during the day, EUR 46.00 at night
San Antonio Bay – EUR 24.00 during day time, EUR 29.00 at night
Cala Llonga – EUR 22.00 during the day, EUR 26.00 at night
A number of operators also run airport transfer and shuttle services during the summer months, which are remarkably cheap. Resorthoppa, Ibizatransfers and Resorttaxis are not only providing airport shuttle services, but also offer island group travel for any size and some of these Ibiza Airport taxis guarantee pickup, even if flights are delayed. It pays to shop around online, if travelling as a large family or in a group.
At the airport tourists will find an Airport Tourist Office in the arrivals area. It is useful to stop by and get a few maps and guide books before getting to the resorts with Ibiza taxis, since there may be something of interest en route that can be viewed as part of the taxi ride.
Within the terminal there are two banking facilities with ATMs for cash – it is always advisable to negotiate the cost of a taxi ride before getting into the cab – and to make sure that one can cover the fare with the currency one has in one’s pocket. Not all Ibiza Airport taxis take credit cards.
There are 9 hotels within close proximity to the airport and most of them will be in Ibiza Town, but at least a couple of them can be found in San Jose. The Tourist Information Office as well as the general Information Desk in the arrivals area can assist with details of the main hotels near the airport.
